The ‘Mysore Style’ Ashtanga method is named after the city where Shri K. Pattabhi Jois lived and taught, and now his grandson R. Sharath, and daughter Saraswathi continue his teachings at the Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute. Traveling to India and studying at the KPJAYI institute is an important part of the Ashtanga Practice. Please email us if you are interested in going and have any questions.
How Mysore Style is Taught
Important Information for Beginners
If you are new to Mysore Style Ashtanga we require you come and watch a portion of a morning Mysore class first. You may show up any day between 6:30-8:30 am - plan on observing for 30 minutes or so. Observing the class will give you an good idea of what the practice entails. In addition you will have the opportunity to meet the teacher and discuss the program.
It is highly recommended you attend Mysore at least 3 days per week to start and prior to starting your first class (after your observation class) you must purchase a Mysore Monthly Unlimited Membership. You can do this at the desk or online.
If you have any further questions about the program or registration please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
